JVC 32inch smart HD LED Fire TV LT-32CF230 Not Finding Remote

TV comes on fine by pressing the button underneath but cannot detect remote. Have tried buying a new remote and syncing it but still failing to pick up a remote. Possibly an easy fix for somebody who knows how.
