I'd been putting off buying a monitor for months, waiting for my budget to stretch, but the wait was worth it when I finally received mine and was blown away by its quality. The packaging was top-notch, with all the cables neatly laid out on top of the unit, making it easy to get started right away. First thing I noticed was that there was a lot of plastic in use - the base and arm attachments, as well as the cable ties - which I had hoped would be more robust.
The metal part at the top of the arm did add a touch of weight to the monitor, but it didn't detract from its stability. When all was said and done, assembling this thing proved surprisingly easy, aside from the fact that the PSU is separate from the rest of the components - which, in hindsight, makes sense given its compact size.
I'd been worried about the lack of metal in other monitors I'd come across, but when I connected it to my PC using the included HDMI cable, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I got a full 60Hz refresh rate without any issues. Changing the cable proved to be a bit of an exercise in trial and error, until I finally discovered that a proper DP cable would have given me the same results.
The control panel on the back is simple but effective, with a few buttons and joysticks that can be used to adjust settings like brightness and contrast - although these may take some getting used to. Once you've got it settled in, everything seems to work nicely, from color consistency to image quality. The IPS panels do seem very uniform overall, without any noticeable ghosting or bleeding.
I was surprised to discover how well the monitor handled video playback while connected to my NVR for CCTV monitoring - although this might not be relevant to everyone's needs. One thing that did stand out, however, was how clear and vivid everything seemed on screen, even at high frame rates like 1080p. Color saturation and vibrancy are both good, too.
Of course, there is one criticism I have: the included HDMI cable only works up to 60Hz, which might not be enough for everyone's needs. Still, it's a minor quibble in what appears to be an otherwise excellent piece of kit - and at this price point, you get what you pay for.
As someone who uses their monitor as a primary display for CCTV images, I've been impressed with its performance in these situations, handling everything from low-light monitoring to fast-paced action without any issues. It's also great that it can be used as a secondary display in my Windows setup, too - although this might be more of an experiment than anything else.
All in all, I'd definitely recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a solid, affordable option that delivers on its promises. The price may seem high by some standards, but when you consider what it's capable of, I think it's well worth the investment.
