Name: Review:
Amanda Seyfried's performance as Valerie is excellent, capturing her youth and spirit perfectly with great grace and a pleasant effect. The cast, including Shiloh Fernandez and Max Irons, deliver strong performances as Peter and Henry. Virginia Madsen brings a sense of importance to her mother's role as Valerie's grandmother. Julie Christie's presence adds depth to the story.

The film's scenography is visually stunning, with breathtaking views of the mountains and forest landscapes. The costumes are well-designed and fitting for the characters. The plot keeps the mystery intriguing until the end, with a satisfying resolution that pays homage to Angela Carter's short stories.

Amanda Seyfried's costume choice as Valerie is memorable, particularly in the scenes where she wears the red cape. However, the wolf itself has no redeeming qualities - it's simply an evil creature driven by a desire to prey on young females.

The atmosphere of the film is often erotic and suggestive, with a sense of danger lurking beneath the surface. While this may not appeal to everyone, it adds to the overall mood of the movie. The presence of young characters who court Valerie and the wolf's menacing presence are enough to generate this atmosphere without resorting to explicit content.

Amanda Seyfried's performance as Valerie is a highlight of the film, bringing a sense of vulnerability and strength to her character. Her blond hair and red cape add to the overall visual impact, making for a memorable experience.

Updating fairy tales seems to be a current fascination for filmmakers, but unfortunately, this particular retelling falls short of its full potential. Despite some impressive performances from the cast, we find ourselves losing interest in the plot as the mystery surrounding the werewolf's identity slowly unravels.

The story's lackluster magic and even a dearth of sensuality or romance detract from what could have been a captivating narrative. Furthermore, the cinematography is mostly shot in muted tones, which, when done well, can be a potent tool for heightening tension - but here, it falls flat due to its heavy-handed approach.

The film's shortcomings are exacerbated by an excessive reliance on shadows, which while effective in certain moments, fails to elevate the overall mood. Overall, our experience with this project was disappointing.
