Roberts Revival iSTREAML FM/DAB/DAB+/INTERNET Digital Radio with Bluetooth, Classic Red

I would have given this radio a 4.5 out of 5 if that were possible. The beautifully finished exterior and fantastic sound quality make a great starting point for the experience.

The full and warm sound is a real treat, but it's not without its quirks. For example, when changing station from the preset list, there's an awkward interface - a simple clockwise rotation turns down the list, while anti-clockwise rotation turns up. This might not be noticeable to everyone, but for those who bought this radio as a gift or simply expect a smoother user experience, it can make all the difference.

My first impression of this Revival range was the styling - I've always been drawn to sleek designs, and the iStream3L exceeded my expectations with its modern look and feel.

I'm particularly impressed with how it handles internet connectivity, allowing me to access stations from all around the world in good clarity. My DAB reception is patchy where I live, but using the internet mode has greatly improved the listening experience.

The build quality of this unit is top-notch - excellent construction, a reassuringly heavy casing, beautiful gold accents on the grille and Roberts logo, pristine stitching that's stood up to repeated washing and wear. The setup guide was simple to follow, guiding me through each step with ease. Opening the box revealed a stunning finish, including the WPS button for easy WiFi connectivity - I quickly got hooked up.

The app is incredibly user-friendly, allowing me to control the radio with ease. Installing either the UNDOK or Oktiv apps has been a breeze, and the ability to toggle power, change volume, listen modes, browse stations, and more has been a game-changer. When using Spotify, the radio can be activated directly within the app - perfect for seamless integration.

Sound quality is superb, with decent bass and clear highs that don't overwhelm. While it's not a Hi-Fi system, I've found it to be adequate in terms of volume and richness when used with the correct equipment. There's also an equaliser preset mode or ability to create your own custom settings - but I haven't had to get involved too much.

This unit has become my go-to for everyday listening, whether I'm catching up on pop/rock or just enjoying some background tunes. The 3.5mm line out socket and headphone socket make it easy to connect to other devices, such as a home stereo system. A headphone jack is also conveniently located on the top left of the control panel. Unfortunately, Bluetooth connectivity only allows for wired use with headphones - but that's a minor quibble.

Battery life has been impressive, with 40 preset options available in each mode and navigation using both the unit itself and the app. I've installed six AA batteries under the bottom plate to keep it running for around 10 hours on a single charge - convenient, if not exactly ideal. Overall, this iStream3L has won me over as a reliable and enjoyable listening companion that doesn't compromise too much on style or functionality - a true gem in its class.

I've got a bit of a mixed bag with my recent experience with a Roberts Dabs radio, despite having high hopes for their reputation.

It was quite expensive upfront, and the dab reception was definitely not on par with some of the other brands I'd tried in the past. However, the internet radio itself sounds and looks just as good, if not better, than I'd heard.

I was a bit hesitant to order another one after my previous experience, but this internet radio is incredibly easy to use - my elderly relative with dementia simply turns it on and off easily, and she loves listening to it. The fact that it's also great at streaming from my iPhone is just the icing on the cake.

The Roberts Dabs brand has certainly delivered a solid product for me, even if I couldn't get the dab reception quite right.
