I've checked the drive operation by performing a secure erase, which writes zeros to every sector of the disk. This unit has a USB 2.0 interface, supporting a theoretical maximum 60MB/s (480Mb/s) transfer rate, so its better suited to background storage tasks like backup and archiving of less-frequently-used data rather than interactive work like photo or movie editing.
